H2arvester: mobile agrivoltaics! H2arvester is a circular energy system for the local generation and use of sustainable energy, through the use of abundant agricultural land without loss of crop production. H2arvester’s solar cars are constructed in the form of a matrix of solar panels, which move autonomously on the agricultural land of arable farmers, dairy farmers and over ditches. Because the solar panels are mobile, H2arvester can be seen as an ‘extra crop’ in the rotary cultivation of arable farmers and tulip bulb growers. Also for dairy farmers, with whom the H2arvester solar cars “rotate” with the outdoor grazing and/or move over ditches, this literally means double use of agricultural land and extra income is generated, with a maximum land occupation of 10% per hectare. The yield from the solar panels can be processed at the farms into green hydrogen (H2) and stored, in order to balance the production ánd use of the generated energy (hydrogen and heat), without increasing the electricity grid. The hydrogen stock can also be supplied to third parties, such as agricultural cooperatives, energy corporations, industries or the own village. Agricultural companies are at the intersection, the ‘sweet spot’, of the sustainability challenges for rural areas: sustainable energy, better soil health and better revenue models.
