In the years to come, the agriculture industry will be facing some major challenges. The growth of the world’s population is expected to amount to more than 9 billion people in 2050, accompanied by diet changes and increased food demand. Labour participation in agriculture has decreased considerably, thus the positioning of human labour is an important issue in the European agriculture sector.
Until recently, agricultural technology was mostly based on mechanical engineering. However, this is gradually changing, with the evolution of technology continuously advancing towards sensing, artificial intelligence, advanced mechatronics and with connectivity as key component.
This catalogue of European Agricultural Robotics includes 123 robot solutions for all aspects of agri-food, from planning to production through processing, packing and transportation and up to the food being served at the table. It contains technologies that are already commercially available, along with those that are expected to become market-ready over the next two years.
